There are a lot of great places in the country to raise a family. But as women with families who live here, play here and work here, we say there is no better place than northcentral Montana. Here, you'll find a mix of wide-open spaces, city amenities, plenty of room to breathe, numerous communities to choose from and a genuine love of place.
And while there are lots of incredible reasons to plant roots in northcentral Montana. here are five reasons it's the best place to raise a family.
1. Outdoor Recreational Opportunities
If you and your family like playing outdoors year-round, Montana is a four-season destination that offers abundant activities and recreation 12 months a year. For starters, Glacier National Park is in our backyard. Its 1 million acres of glacial-carved terrain are stunning, with summer being the most popular time to visit (but insider tip, as locals we're super partial to fall in the park). This region of Montana is also home to state parks, wilderness areas, national forests and wilderness areas and abundant opportunities for fishing, boating, horseback riding, hiking, bike riding and camping. A few of our favorite places: the Missouri River, Sluice Boxes State Park and Holter Lake.

2. Strong Sense of Community
Montanans have a lot of pride in calling this wonderful state home, whether they've been here for generations or are recent residents who have chosen to plant roots in Big Sky Country. No matter where you live, you'll see and adapt a strong sense of community. If you opt to live in Fairfield, before you know it you'll be cheering on the Fairfield Eagles football team and being part of the excitement that comes with is. If you plant roots in Great Falls, you'll get to see the love locals (including you!) have for the C.M. Russell High School Rustlers and the Great Falls High Bison. Beyond sports, you'll quickly become immersed in annual events like Dutton Fun Days, Choteau's Fourth of July Celebration or Augusta's Rodeo Weekend.
3. It's a Safe Place for Kids to Grow Up
Northcentral Montana has a great mix of communities, from the largest (Great Falls) to several smaller communities (like Choteau, Fairfield, Augusta and Belt) that offer small town living within easy reach of city amenities. Montana's smaller towns are close-knit and are the kind of places where most people will get to know you, learn your name, cheer your kids on and keep an eye out for them.

4. Good School Systems and Class Sizes
If you're looking for a place where the teachers will know your kids names and want them to succeed, there's no need to look farther than northcentral Montana. Our school systems are top tier and class sizes aren't too large, meaning your kids will get the attention they need and deserve to have the best education possible.
5. Reasonable Home Prices that Hold Their Value
While there are some places in Montana where housing is more expensive, northcentral Montana is a region where home buyers can find reasonably priced homes that hold their value. There typically aren't giant ebbs and flows in the real estate market in this part of the state, which means that things hold steady more so than other areas.
